Nacionalni diktat
28. listopada tekst diktata bit će objavljen na stranicama “Українського радіо” i “Суспільне | Культура”, a svatko tko želi, moći će provjeriti svoj rezultat.

National dictation
Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language
Annually since the year of 2000, around the day of Ukrainian Literature and Language, which is celebrated on the 27th of October, a special dictation is held. This is a radio-dictation of National Unity, designed to promote the Ukrainian language.
The text of 150–200 words, a new one every year, is written by well-known Ukrainian writers, and is read out on the radio, and online. Thousands of people from different countries all over the world join in. These are people in Ukraine, students and ambassadors, Ukrainian language learners, and even scientists working on the Ukrainian Polar Station.
Every participant can then send their work to Ukrainian National Radio to check it for mistakes. And this is how we have our winners, those who wrote the dictation without mistakes. Their number varies from several to hundreds of people depending on the year. This year, on the 25th of October, dictation was written in Zagreb as well.
On October 28th, the dictation text will be published on the websites of “Ukrainske Radio” and “Suspilne | Kultura”, and anyone who wishes will be able to check their results. If you want your text to be checked by experts, dictations are accepted for review online and offline. The written text should be photographed/scanned and sent by email by October 28th, or by mail with a postmark date of October 27th.
Why is it so important and meaningful? That is because the Ukrainian language survived hundreds of restrictive laws, bans and even anathemas imposed by the Russian Empire and the USSR. It was forbidden to speak Ukrainian, to write, print books in this language, to teach Ukrainian at schools, etc. To receive education and to build a career, Ukrainians were forced to abandon their native language.
Despite all these hardships, it survived, and it is now our duty and privilege to cherish it! Even air raid sirens could not prevent Ukrainians from writing it this year.
